Our Sustainability Promise
At 91 Aparthotel Newcastle, we understand how our business affects the environment and local communities. We are committed to sustainability and to minimising our carbon footprint while enhancing the wellbeing of our guests, employees, and local communities. Our sustainability accreditation partner, Green Tourism, supports us on this journey.
Supporting Our Community
We are dedicated to green tourism, sustainability, and supporting our local community. Our team actively participates in charitable initiatives, including running for Macmillan Support to help raise vital funds. We have donated dining vouchers to organisations such as Dragonfly Cancer Trust, Kenton Hall Care Home, and Wallsend Girls Football Team, helping them generate charity funds.
Additionally, we support the Newcastle Foundation NUFC, which works with young and vulnerable children in our area. During the festive season, we contribute to The People’s Kitchen by donating food parcels and take part in community litter picks, reinforcing our commitment to social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
Environmental Initiatives
At 91 Aparthotel Newcastle, we are committed to green tourism, sustainability, and reducing our environmental impact. We actively use the IHG Green Engage system, ensuring that our energy and resource consumption is constantly monitored and optimised. Our Green Slides, displayed in reception, are regularly updated to keep guests and staff informed about our latest sustainability efforts. To further our commitment, a group of our team members used the WWF Carbon Footprint Calculator to better understand and reduce their individual environmental impact. Additionally, we partner with Veolia for carbon monitoring, helping us track and lower our overall emissions as part of our ongoing sustainability strategy.
Our Team
We are committed to fostering a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace for all team members. Our staff actively contribute to minimising environmental impact through regular sustainability training and the guidance of an on-site Sustainability Champion. We closely monitor business and staff travel, promoting public transport, car-sharing, and our Cycle to Work scheme in partnership with Cairn Group to reduce emissions.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we have introduced EV vehicles into our operations and track energy and activity targets, reporting monthly to our head office to ensure continuous progress in sustainability and green initiatives.
Guest Support
We actively encourage sustainable travel by promoting the use of public transport, especially for guests heading into Newcastle City Centre, as we are conveniently located near Jesmond Metro Station. To further our commitment to green tourism and sustainability, we display posters around the hotel highlighting our eco-friendly initiatives, ensuring both guests and staff are informed and engaged in our efforts to reduce environmental impact.
